Customs clearance prices, duty and import VAT

A customs bill can contain several different charges. Our service fee pays for the agreed declaration work; it is not the tax charged on the goods and it is not the transport price.

    Arrange this with us

    Start with the service fee

The table below uses our current central price list. Import and export declarations include the first three commodity lines; extra lines are priced separately. Mixed goods may need more than one commodity line even if they share a carton. Transit, corrections and unusual procedures are agreed by quote. We confirm the scope before starting.

    Estimate the goods-related charges separately

Customs value, classification, origin and the destination’s rules determine relevant duty and import VAT. Freight and insurance can form part of the customs/VAT bases under the applicable rules. A percentage entered into an estimate is only an assumption until the goods and procedure have been checked.

    Official guidance

    Check who charges which fee

A carrier may charge for customs clearance, advancing taxes or handling a special procedure. Avoid commissioning duplicate declarations when a carrier is already clearing the shipment. Our receiving, storage, dispatch handling and onward freight also remain separate logistics services.

Business VAT reporting differs from private payment

Norwegian VAT-registered importers normally account for import VAT through their VAT return. That is not the same as a private buyer having no import VAT to pay. Ask your accountant about deductibility and retain the declaration and invoice. A seller VAT refund is a separate matter, never an automatic checkout discount.

Import and export fees include three goods lines per declaration. Duties, import VAT, freight and any transit guarantee are separate. We confirm the full scope and applicable VAT before starting.

    A practical example

Illustration only: assume a Norwegian import has a customs/VAT base of 11,000 NOK, no duty or excise, and a 25% import VAT rate. Import VAT is then 2,750 NOK. Our declaration-service fee and any separate transport/advance-payment charges are additional. A different product, tax rate or procedure changes the result.
