Import declarations for Norway and Sweden

A parcel crossing the Norway–Sweden border is crossing a customs boundary. We help assemble the information and arrange the import declaration for the agreed route, whether you are a private buyer or a business.

Choose where the goods enter customs circulation

For goods imported into Norway, Norwegian rules and the Norwegian importer apply. Goods entering Sweden from outside the EU are handled under EU customs rules. An EU purchase sent to our Strömstad warehouse does not automatically require Swedish import clearance if those goods are already in free circulation in the EU. Sending them onwards to Norway is a separate customs movement.

    Official guidance

A complete invoice is the starting point

Provide the actual goods description, value, currency, seller and buyer. Add freight and insurance costs, origin information, parcel count and weight. A marketplace receipt that only says ‘goods’ is rarely enough to classify a mixed shipment. We confirm who will submit the declaration and whether representation or additional documents are needed before dispatch.

    Official guidance

Understand what you pay and when

Our declaration-service fee is separate from import VAT, customs duty, excise duties and a carrier’s clearance or advance-payment charge. Norwegian VAT-registered businesses normally report import VAT in their VAT return; private customers and other importers may pay it through the carrier or customs arrangement. Do not assume a foreign seller’s VAT disappears automatically.

    Official guidance

    Release comes before onward use

Keep the declaration and supporting invoice together for accounting and any later return. Arrival at a warehouse does not itself mean that goods have been released by customs. Restricted products, food or other regulated goods can require additional registrations or checks. Tell us what is in the shipment before ordering transport.

    A practical example

A German shop sends furniture to Strömstad for a customer in Oslo. The EU delivery and the later Norway import are different legs. Before onward transport, we agree the importer, declaration arrangements and who pays the Norwegian import charges. The storage/handling and freight quote does not replace the customs declaration.
